Versogen achieves 1GW per year hydrogen production capability

Anion exchange membrane (AEM) technology manufacturer Versogen has achieved production capacity of 1GW per year.

Capable of producing green hydrogen, Versogen’s AEM electrolysers have scaled up the production capabilities of its proprietary PiperION® polymer by more than 2,000 times.

The achievement was supported by Versogen’s role as an anchoring partner in the Mid Atlantic Clean Hydrogen Hub (MACH2), which was one of the seven winners selected by the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs programme.

Yushan Yan Ph.D., CEO and Co-Founder of Versogen, said, “Our customers have told us consistently that our AEM’s are the most stable and highest performing on the market today.

“The ability to produce over 1GW per year means that the availability of AEM of consistent quality is no longer the bottleneck of AEM technologies. This is an enormous step towards meeting the DOE’s goals of reducing the cost of hydrogen to $1 a kilogramme.”

The company’s Vice President of Membrane Production, Sharon Perl Ph.D., added, “By achieving a production capacity at a world-class scale, we have positioned Versogen as a global leader in green hydrogen and AEM technologies to become the premier technology for low-cost hydrogen.

“Zero emission hydrogen is possible. We have de-risked the technology and scaled the production capacity; now we just need to deploy gigawatts of capacity globally.”

Last year (2023), Versogen announced it was set to be supported by Chemours, as it aims to accelerate its AEM technology and produce affordable green hydrogen at scale.”

Class of H2

H2 View has launched Class of H2, its inaugural series of hydrogen masterclasses designed for new entrants and those looking to enhance their hydrogen knowledge and energy executives considering transitioning to the sector.

Stephen B.Harrison, Founder and Managing Director at sbh4 GmbH in Germany, is the trainer and focuses on decarbonisation and greenhouse gas emissions reduction.

Attendees can book one module, a package of three or six. If five or more corporates want to enrol, bespoke packages and pricing are available. Don’t worry if you miss one, as all modules are available to watch on demand for up to a year from enrolment.
