Hydrogen-powered truck manufacturer Nikola Corporation has appointed Jonathan Pertchik to its Board of Directors.
Pertchik will bring over two decades of transformational leadership, serving as the CEO and Managing Director of TravelCenters of America (TA).
He will bring previous experience from his roles at WCI Communities, ST Residential and Intown Suites. He also navigated changes for companies owned or controlled by investor groups such as Starwood Capital Group, TPG, Carl Icahn, Richard LeFrak, and Perry Capital.

Speaking on his appointment, Pertchik said, “I’m eager to contribute to the company’s journey as it continues to develop zero-emission vehicle and infrastructure solutions and pioneer cutting-edge technology.”
Steve Schindler, Chairman of Nikola’s Board of Directors, added, “We look forward to leveraging his insights, acumen and industry relationships as we introduce our hydrogen fuel cell electric truck to the marketplace and support our customers.”
In August (2023), the company surpassed 200 sales orders for its Class 8 hydrogen-powered fuel cell truck through its HYLA brand.

However, in June (2023) the company reduced its employee headcount to decrease cash spends by $50m annually.
