Hyundai unveils new hydrogen and software-driven strategy for future applications

Hyundai Motor company has presented its vision for a hydrogen-powered, software-driven transformation going beyond mobility applications.

Showcased during CES 2024 in Las Vegas, the US, under the theme ‘ease every way’, Hyundai held its media day at the Mandalay Bay Convention Centre to highlight its blueprint for a hydrogen energy ecosystem and a vision for software and AI.

In line with the company’s brand vision, ‘progress for humanity’, the ‘ease every way’ theme will reflect Hyundai’s aim to create a comfortable and peaceful living environment by providing three core universal values of freedom, safety, and fairness for the global community.

Hyundai has previously announced a commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, supported by a clear RE100 roadmap to sue 100% renewable energy in its overseas factories by 2045 and in every group entity by 2050, with hydrogen playing a key role in achieving this.

Currently undergoing a software-driven transformation throughout the whole Hyundai group, Hyundai’s new ‘software-defined everything’ (SDx) strategy aims to transform all moving devices, fleets and ecosystems into valuable assets through advanced software and AI.

During the event, Hyundai also showcased its waste-to-hydrogen production and hydrogen value chain, along with SDV technologies and future mobility concepts.

The company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) last September (2023) to initiate the start of clean hydrogen production using biogas.
